Double delight for Kinghan as he reigns in the Enkalon Trophy races

Gerard Kinghan was the “Man of the Meeting” today in Bishopscourt as the Enkalon raised the curtain on the new Ulster Superbike Championship.

He certainly earned it too taking both Superbike wins but, not without Charles Stuart putting up a fight first. Kinghan was a flag to flag winner in Race 1 but, in Race 2 Stuart got away clean and made a break before Kinghan reeled him in, made a pass and pulled away slightly to take the title.

The meeting went ahead in bitter cold conditions, such cold that warranted 2 warm up laps instead of 1 per race for the sake of safety. Riders were well aware of the cold track temperature also, a factor that allowed the afternoon to pass relatively incident free although lap times were obviously affected.

Korie McGreevy and Jason Lynn diced in both Supersport races with Korie being the victor of race 1 while race 2 had to be restarted. The weather conditions also had a terrible effect on the attendance. While those that did brave the elements were treated to a thoroughly entertaining fixture, many left after the feature race. Races were run with the efficiency that typifies Bishopscourt though.
